Spring is in the air!

The first buds…

Spring is in the air @ Akaroa Lavender.

Spring is definitely in the air at Akaroa Lavender, and you can feel the farm beginning to wake from its winter rest.

The kōwha retain hints of glowing gold, birdsong is carrying through the regenerating native forest, and fresh green growth is appearing everywhere. With beautiful views across Akaroa Harbour, it’s a wonderful time of year to slow down, breathe deeply and enjoy the changing season.

For us, spring also means getting ready for lavender season.

Our 7,000-plus lavender plants are putting on new growth, and we’re busy working our way through the fields by hand, weeding and preparing them for their first flowers. Between the rows, our native Leptinella ground cover continues to spread, helping us work with nature as we care for the land.

And now we’re waiting for that first touch of purple.

We look forward to welcoming visitors back when our guided lavender farm tours begin in November. We can't wait to share another beautiful lavender flowering season with you.
